What the Texas Resource Hub Offers
Where are the well-paying Jobs?
labor market literacy tool
Our dashboard of the most current and critical occupational data points makes understanding the labor market a much easier process. Users can explore various career areas to see what well-paying jobs are available in any selected region or across all available regions in Texas. They can then sort the data by those with the most projected jobs, highest job growth percentage, wages, or desired level of education required for an occupation.
The dashboard highlights the distribution of education in each career area so that users can see what type of education they might need to obtain employment. Once a possible career has been identified in this tool, all the user has to do is look for the career area (i.e., Healthcare) in the Texas Navigator directory of programs of study to find options where they might train toward a desired career.
Texas Navigator directory
of high-value programs of study
Texas Navigator contains programs identified as high-value based on program cost versus potential early-career salary. Our researchers first review any public program information and synthesize the most salient points into a listing for the directory.
We then reach out to all of the program contacts to ask them to confirm program details, provide any additional insight into program benefits such as embedded industry-needed credentials, and inform best practices for admission to and success in their programs.
When available, we also include information on program costs not included in standard tuition and fees, financial aid opportunities, and work-based learning and/or clinical requirements that bolster the learning experience and impact a program’s value.
Postsecondary advising guides
Our Postsecondary Advising Guides provide more detail into a specific career area of interest. In the Construction Guide, you will find information on the highest paying jobs Associate’s degrees or certificate training, licensing requirements for Journeymen Electricians and more. In our series of Guides for four-year programs of study, you can dive deeper into specific departments of interest at four-year public colleges and universities throughout the state.
Students interested in Business, for example can look at the directory listing in Texas Navigator for the Business schools at University of Houston and Texas A&M Universities, and then go to the Postsecondary Advising Guides for more information on the academic preparation needed in high school for either school, additional value-added opportunities like internships, and other items that can provide insight toward making well-informed decisions.
